Most of the new X-Files was actually really good. At least four out of the six were genuinely very enjoyable. Two were excellent, two were throwbacks to the old days' monster-of-the-week scoring averages. And the other two were... well, OK if you're a fan (probably!).The only slight disappointment was that those two not-very-good episodes were both dedicated to Chris Carter's mythology, which not only took a backseat for the last few years of the original series but which now seems to have more or less died a death. Arguably it really ran out of steam shortly after the first movie came out, and by the time of the second movie it had all but evapourated completely.
So, what was the purpose of the alien hybrids? (Why would the alien colonists want hybrid humans there to act as concentration camp guards when their intention was simply to use the human race as Alien-style embryo grow-bags?) What happened to the vaccine, and the Black Oil itself, for that matter? And what about Agent Doggett? And the super-soldiers?
