Lawrence in Syria

This photo was apparently taken at the excavations at Karkemish, Syria, circa 1912-1914. It's from a book called Dead Towns and Living Men (London: Milford, 1920).

And this of course is how one likes to imagine Lawrence would have appeared the first time he met Indiana Jones.
