In the middle of the front row is SS-Mann Eric Reginald Pleasants who among many pre-war jobs had been a Boxer. In late February/early March 1945 Pleasants ‘got himself attached to Vivian Stranders’ embryonic ‘Peace Camp’ – in reality he spent his time giving exhibition bouts against famous German Boxer Max Schmeling in German officers’ messes.
